Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and slow dance-like movement done repeatedly in a flow.
Yin yoga targets deep connective tissues (fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones). Holding poses for a longer period than in other traditional types of yoga, Yin yoga helps to stretch and lengthen those rarely used tissues while breathing through the stretch.
Both originate from Traditional Chinese Medicine and are tailored to each season. The element of the Late Summer is Earth and the corresponding organs are the Stomach and Spleen. The routines for this season uses specific Qigong movements that cultivate centering and grounding. Our flows will focus on cleansing the spleen, stomach, and digestive system, as well as transforming the emotional toxin of worry. We will also tonify the spleen and stomach (also called fortifying the spleen) to increase immunity, improve digestion, blood flow and stamina, as well as promote mental clarity, focus and vitality.
